Since its founding, DuPage Legal Aid (DLA) has helped thousands of community members in need of legal help. The lawyers working with us are volunteers who can provide you with free legal advice and counsel on issues specifically related to family law. Steps to Getting Help

The information we request will help us determine how best we can serve you. You can begin the eligibility process below. Your safety and privacy
are of upmost importance to us, so if you are in immediate danger, call 911. Alternatively, you can contact one of the following organizations: A
Safe Place 1-800-600-SAFE or Wings at 847-221-5680. Both are accessible 24 hours a day.

First, let’s make sure the legal help you need is the type we offer

Complete intake document

Briefly answering a few questions about your legal issue will enable us to direct you to the type of assistance you need.

Wait for eligibility approval

Once we have confirmed that we can assist you, we will notify you. Should we find we cannot help you with your legal issue, we will refer you to an organization that can.

Note: During this confidential screening, you will be asked a series of questions and may be asked to provide some documents to verify your answers. If you are eligible for assistance, you will then be assigned to a staff attorney or volunteer lawyer from the DuPage County Bar Association who will help you going forward. If you do not qualify, the staff member with whom you have your initial screening will help point you in the right direction for other resources.
